Types of Lenses
If an object is closer than the focal length the images appears to be virtual and you cannot take a photo if the image is virtual. If the object is too far away the image appears small. Unlike prime lenses, zoom lenses do not have a fixed focal length. Zoom lenses are used to view and capture an image that is farther away or one that you want to see in a larger scale. Zoom lenses allow the camera to change between focal lengths by just using one lens (Sandler & Ellis, 2009). By using a telephoto lens you can take pictures of objects farther away. It has a large focal length. When light rays are farther away less light rays are able to get to the camera a telephoto lens increases the amount of light and magnifies the object.
Wide angle lenses capture a wider angle of view but have shorter focal lengths
making the images close up look larger (Sandler & Ellis, 2009).
